2006; the christmas days
So yes! Blogging has become somewhat of a lost art for me this past week or so. But Lou needs my words of wisdom (and possibly comfort; I can't remember), and I had ought to blog becase quite a lot has happened since last.. Wednesday was it? *checks*. Yes. And if I don't blog soon I'll just forget it all anyway and yes. So here goes;
Christmas Day! Was really nice. Got up at.. 8ish; went to church at 10:30 (we usually go to the one in Oakthorpe, but it was closed, and so instead we went to one in Ashby). It was all quite high-tech; the sermon thing had been done on powerpoint (and in comic sans, ahe) but all the same I enjoyed it. I mean, i say sermon, but it wasn't like some old man just talking and stuff. It was all very nice and friendly and it was really good fun. Then we came home and continued to tear through presents, ahe. I got all sorts of cool stuff! An iPod which I am very much addicted to (music quiz music quiz music quiz!); Ace Attorney (finally); some CDs; a D&D book (I so love D&D books. They're so well made and all hardback and have nice pages, and even the ones you don't use much in games are still joy just to sit and leaf through.); some maths books; Billie Piper's autobiography (because yes, EVERYTIME i go into Smiths it's like "ooh, I'd quite like that.." and yes); a funky wipe-clean grid mat for D&D (which. wins. at. life.); and various chocolate and such. My wonderful wonderful and totally forver awesome girlfriend (it's justified, ahe) got me the two comic relief harry potter books which I've wanted for aggggggges; two cds; and (most awesomely) a sonic screwdriver! Which actually works; ahe, Jae was trying to print something off the computer today and it wouldn't work so Joe just buzzed the printer with the screwdriver and it was like, working. So yes. Christmas dinner was really nice (although I got jealous, Han got Quorn-fillets-which-I-love and I was stuck with proper meat) and then the evening was nice, I sat with my family and we watched Doctor Who and then Strictly Come Dancing (but Han and I were also doing Animal Crossing at the time). Went to bed tired&&happy.
I have a cold and I'm cold and I and can't wait to get into bed. And be all snuggly and warm.
Ahe, I about love Van Der Graaf Gneerator. Peter Hamill on After the Flood sounds like hes a Dalek. /Every step appears to be the unavoidable consequence of the preceding one and in the end there beckons more and more clearly TOTAL ANNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIHHHHLLATIIIONNNNNNNNNN
Christmas day Doctor Who! I liked it muchly. I *so* miss Rose though. The last 15 mins I think were rather weak (LOOK IVE FLOODED YOU LOL, AND NOW YOU'RE ALL BLOWN UP THE END) and I think I preferred last year's Christmas one (but yes, that had Rose). Ten was awesome-as-always though, and the trailer for next season had Dalek Sec so yes, LOVE. Also, tribophysical waveford macro-kinetic extrapolator = win. Also, there seemed to be serious set-up going on with the whole "LOOK CREATURES FROM BEFORE TIME ITSELF//THE EARTH IS ACTUALLY A RACNOSS NESTING EGG". Also 2, Gallifrey! Mentioned at last which was cool.
Had D&D on Thursdaze (both this, as in today, and last) and yes, it's all been rather fun. I have learnt two lessons since NoDDSoc and actually playing with an actual DM - prepration is important; knowing the rules is important. So yes, we've been off on a little (Christmas-special-dare-I-say) adventure set 20~ish years before the War in Consecuar erupts, in the lesser-known (as in, I created it on a whim over reading week and have been eager to go back there since) polar regions of Torthnoth. And I'm not sure how my clique have found these last few sessions but for me at least; after having played under Jaques (read: experienced/v. good DM who runs the most sheerly.. enjoyable sessions EVAR) I find it.. a bit easier and quite a lot more enjoyable to DM. Am really, really looking forward to summer when we can finally - after (what will then have been) more than a year's absence - get back into our main-had-since-level-1 characters and *finally* finish off the whole war in Consecuar. Being the sad, excitable person I am I got hit by like, a sudden inspiration and I now have! a whole page of the summer sessions done. As yes, I'm sad an excitable.
(Wonderful Ander's wonderful pictures of tonight here)
Boxing day; went up to Mammar's for the whole family-meeting thing. Jim/Charlotte/U.Jez/A.Wendy were there (ofc); as were SPAGAUNT (Auntie Elaine, ahe, who we do love dearly) and Auntie Anne and Uncle David (who are ever so slightly chavvy (more in a Jackie Tyler sort of way than a IM GONNA BOST UR ED sort of way), but incredibly funny and awesome). It was really good fun; we played Animal Crossing and ate loads of brandy snaps and were immature. Got back at late; talked to Lou on the phone until like, quarter to midnight. Which was.. rather magnificient; especially as I didn't realise how late it was.
Oh look; it's ;;; overuse/misuse day (week?).
The whole ARGH IM REVISING 25 HOURS A DAY grind has begun. I have an exam on the 16th, one on the 17th, one on the 18th (the bad run); then one on the 24th/25th (I think); and then the last one on the 1st Feb. The (somewhat) good news is that the hardest ones are first; so things should gradually get better. Revisions been going.. quite well. After a year I have finally cracked nth roots of unity (hee, root) and yes. Seeing Lou tommorow which is a bit of a reprieve from revision, but then Saturday is like, FEST. Sunday and Monday are half-days. Then from then on it gets.. bleak.
New Years Day is like, fanboy wet dream. Sarah Jane Smith adventures (yawn) *and* the Torchwood finale? Win.
Christmas Eve went off to the panto! This year was Aladdin starring Claire Sweeney (again), Christopher Biggins, and Basil Brush (who, ahe, faced off on the Weakest Link panto special yesterday night). Was good. Lou came over the day before; we watched Return of the King and silly Christmas videos and gave each other presents and cardS (mine sort of.. paled in comparison, but yes). It was realllllly nice. :)
Watched Dracula tonight (with the always-good Marc Warren). Was good but reallly fast/rushed. Van Helsing ftw ofc. ahe.
Christmas lectures this year have been good. Although 20 mins shorter and moved to Channel 5 (the 7:15 suicide spot, even, when all the other channels are showing the good stuff that people want to watch). Dad and I have resorted to taping them and watching them whenever.
I think that's about it. So now I crawl into bed and sleep and yes. Lou rang to say goodnight (well, so I could say goodnight really, as I have -1P CREDIT) and i feel all warm and happy despite my cold. So yes, it's bed for me.
good
